The Waves Sports Club is a not-for-profit organisation which currently provides employment to over 80 local people; from management and administration, to front-line and operational staff. School-Based Traineeship Program

Are you a student interested in a career in hospitality? In partnership with Club Training Australia, The Waves Sports Club is once again participating in the ever-successful School-based Traineeship Program. 

This program offers high school students the opportunity to work and train in real, paid employment while completing a Certificate III in Hospitality Food & Beverage Attendants (SIT30616). 

Now in it's seventh year, The Waves has helped certify over 40 students from an array of local high schools, some of which have become ongoing employees of The Waves completing cross-training development, apprenticeships, and even gaining permanent employment while still attending school.

Events & Functions Waitstaff (casual and on-call)

The Waves Sports Club is currently seeking dedicated and experienced events and functions waiting staff to join its award-winning team.

The Role: We are currently looking for friendly, attentive, loyal and hardworking food & beverage attendants and bar attendants to work for us on a casual basis for our various events and functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food and beverage wait staff
  • Setup for events and functions at various venues
  • Great customer service skills and communication skills
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Must be available 7 days per week, day/and or night and weekends
  • Further opportunities may become available for the right candidates.


  • Hold current RSA in Queensland. (mandatory)
  • Understanding of workplace health & safety requirements in the workplace
  • Food Safety Certificate (desirable).
  • Must hold current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.


  • 1-year experience in hospitality or service related industry 
  • 1-year experience working at events/functions (desirable)

Ideal candidates must have the capability and desire to go above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service, be able to multi-task and have a positive 'can do' attitude and flexible approach along with being a team player!
